Hemostasis Industry Workshop

Automation in the Coagulation Laboratory to Optimize Laboratory Workflows: Innovations and Ideas for Best Practices

Wednesday, July 30 at 2:45 PM CT
Exhibit Hall Theater 1

This is an in-person event.

Join us for an educational presentation featuring Andrew J. Goodwin, MD, from the University of Vermont Medical Center, a distinguished pathologist with extensive expertise in laboratory medicine. Providing a comprehensive analysis of advanced strategies for optimizing workflows in Hemostasis laboratories, the session will cover the latest automation practices and process improvements, designed to enhance operational efficiency, based on his laboratory’s experience. Attendees will gain insights into best practices for workflow optimization and explore methods to expand laboratory services.

After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the latest in Hemostasis automation and process improvements
  2. Introduce best practices to create more efficient workflows in the Hemostasis Lab via automation
  3. Examine methods to expand Laboratory services for improved patient care

Acute Care Industry Workshop

Enhancing Patient Safety: Addressing the Potentially Fatal Consequences of Undetected Hemolysis at the Point of Care

Tuesday, July 29 at 1:45 PM CT
Exhibit Hall Theater 2

This is an in-person event.

Join us for an insightful workshop exploring patient safety risks and potentially fatal outcomes due to undetected hemolysis at the point of care (POC). This workshop will cover patient cases where undetected hemolysis caused adverse patient outcomes, and will highlight how undetected hemolysis is exacerbated by the insufficient awareness of blood gas testing limitations related to hemolysis. The importance of adopting solutions with integrated hemolysis detection to prevent these potential high-risk situations will be emphasized.

After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the patient safety risks of undetected hemolysis in POC whole blood potassium testing
  2. Identify challenges in clinical management to assess hemolysis at the POC
  3. Recognize the need to adopt a solution that integrates hemolysis detection at the POC
