Educational Presentations

The program will feature three educational presentations. Their titles and objectives follow.

1) The Laboratory’s Role in Evaluation of Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia*

  • Review the pathophysiology of Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT)
  • Describe the clinical significance of HIT
  • Outline current diagnostic lab tests for HIT
  • Discuss benefits of rapid, on-demand HIT testing

2) Featured Tests in Autoimmunity*

  • Recognize the Clinical Significance of dsDNA antibody testing in the diagnosis of SLE
  • Know the tests for antiphospholipid syndrome and how PS/PT fits into the diagnosis
  • Describe the use of Fecal Calprotectin for diagnosing IBD
  • Understand the reasons to test a patient for antibodies to HMGCR

3) Meeting CAP Requirements and CLSI Guidelines for Hemostasis Samples with Automation Ready Analyzers*

  • Review the CAP requirements and CLSI standards for automation
  • Explore acceptable methods for meeting CAP requirements and CLSI standards
  • Discuss additional considerations for automation
